My Melanin Fits is an empowering e-commerce brand founded by a passionate and creative individual who combines their background in retail merchandising, graphic design expertise, and love for fashion. Inspired by the expressive power of apparel and the vibrant culture of Brooklyn, founder Melissa Dewgard embarked on a journey to create a brand that celebrates black culture and offers unique products to a diverse range of customers.
At My Melanin Fits, we take pride in providing culture-rich apparel and made-to-order travel collections. Founded in 2018 by a multi-passionate creative with a keen eye for trends and fashion, we not only offer a wide variety of designs, but also a variety of products that serve the culture. Our signature travel collections, mugs & stationery feature diverse skin tones, various styles, and different hair types. Our apparel boasts our unique flavor of slogans and mantras ensuring inclusivity and representation for all.
What sets My Melanin Fits apart is our commitment to working exclusively with trustworthy artists, legally sourcing all art. We believe in uplifting and empowering the black community through more than just our products. We share resources and knowledge with aspiring creatives, connect businesses with vendors and techniques to help them thrive, and actively engage fellow business owners through custom apparel programs and creative workshops.

We’re also aiming to reach individuals at a younger age, bringing our knowledge and resources to junior high and high school students. Ultimately, we aspire to create a physical space where the community can come together, build connections, utilize resources and celebrate the beauty and excellence of black culture.
